How the story bible works

Updated August 15, 2026

Every book has its own story bible. Nothing is shared between books unless you put it there, so two projects never contaminate each other.

Entries and folders

The bible is organised into Characters, Locations, Worldbuilding, and Notes. Each entry is a card with a portrait, a role, and a short descriptor, so you can scan a cast list rather than reading it.

Entries are meant to be short and searchable. Facts on their own line beat paragraphs, because the point of the bible is answering a question in seconds while you are mid sentence.

Relationships

Relationships are stored as data rather than written into the description. Record once that one character is the parent of another and it appears on both entries automatically.

Those same relationships draw the character tree, which you can rearrange and click through into any entry.

Timeline and map

The plot timeline places events in order so you can see the shape of the book and catch sequencing problems. The map takes the locations in your bible and lays them out as an editable world you can move, paint, and annotate.

Letting it fill itself in

You can build every entry by hand. You can also point the AI at your chapters and have it extract characters, relationships, places, and first appearances for you.

Anything generated is grounded in what you have already written and is fully editable afterwards. It is a starting point, not a final answer, and nothing is added to your manuscript without you asking.
